Quality of Life is a Key Motivator of Physical Activity


When it comes to health promotion what motivates your to stay active? Is is a t.v commercial, the people on the magazine cover or do you make your self stay active in order to stay healthy? The fact is that quality of life is a key motivator for physical activity. It has proven to boost endorphins, your overall energy, stamina and has social and emotional benefits. So why don’t more people do it?

If you can’t become motivated to run a marathon twice year or exercise daily your probably with most of us. Lets assume you work at a desk job from 9 a.m to 5 p.m and you have children. There is time in the morning before work and in the afternoon to possibly go to the gym for a 30 minute workout, but lets face it if you’ve got kids, especially little ones theres HARDLY time to get into a serious workout.

If you can manage to work out 2-3 times per week your probably doing pretty well, or at least you would think. Experts say it depends. If you spend a majority of your day sitting down- say 8-10 hours, your not going to see the results from that strenuous workout. A report says that if this is you your most definitely not the only one. According to the statistics, roughly 80% of American’s have jobs that are either sedentary or require only light activity.

In order to maintain a healthy lifestyle, experts say physical activity must become integrated into your work routine. That means if your sitting at a desk attempt to stand up and move around once every 30 minutes to an hour. Light stretching and pacing even does the trick. Consistent activity in any form is better for your quality of life and easy to manage if you are dedicated enough!
